Last Day in Maui- July 29

So this is one day late because Dad decided that he was going to pack his laptop early (where as he had plenty of other stuff not packed). Oh well, if it weren't for him bringing it along in the first place, I'd be way more behind than just one day. But, I say that I'm a day behind just so you understand why it's so condensed, I've had time to forget the stuff I did :o)

Alright. I again slept in, but until 7am this time, and then got dressed to go to breakfast with Mom. We went back to the same restaurant that we had breakfast in the day before (and it's the place we had dinner, but later in the day they call it by a different name- go figure). After breakfast I walked down to Whaler's Village to do a little last time shopping and to let me digest before I went for my run. Good idea right? Yeah, it would have been, if the shops would have been open at 8:30, but they weren't. I walked back and did my run instead. I figured the walk to the shops had helped me digest enough. I found a beach trail that I hadn't seen the day before, so that helped to add a little bit of time to my run, but it still wasn't super long. But again, it's better than not getting my butt out there. Plus, this time when I got back to the room, I took time to stretch and do an ab workout and stuff, so my body was working longer than I was actually running.

After the workout I showered and tried the shops one more time. By time I left the room, it was 10:30, so I figured they would HAVE to be open by then, there's no way that shops opened at 11. I was right, they were open this time. The first stop I made was the "Stupid Factory." That was Dana's favorite store last time we came. There stuff is pretty funny, although a lot of it verges or is flat out inappropriate. I spent a little time in that store making sure I read all the funny stuff. I almost bought Dana a magnet, but then decided I didn't want to be the reason she had that particular article in her house. But I bought me some new pajama shorts that are oober cute :o) I hit up a couple of other stores, but like I said before about Whaler's Village, there's not too much there that I'm interested in. I did go to the whale museum briefly to look around. It's pretty interesting, but I'm glad I went alone so I could move as quickly or as slowly as I wanted to.

After shopping I went back to the room, oiled up, and went down to the beach. I didn't actually go into the water because I only had 40-ish minutes before Dad got out of his meetings and I didn't want to miss his call. So I sat on the beach reading a book and listening to music. It was pretty nice. When Dad called I just ran up to the room and we went out to lunch. We'd heard about L&L being a really great place to eat good local food. Um... It's not a great place, just as a heads up. It was okay, but it nothing way impressive.

When we finished with lunch we came back to the resort to suit up to go snorkeling. We just hit up the water right in front of the resort. We saw lots of fish and explored the coral for a while, but the only problem was that there were a ton of people all snorkeling right there because it's such easy access and not a half bad spot. We didn't see anything fancy like turtles, eels, or that flat fish that hides in the sand, but it was still pretty good. We tried to get away from the crowd by swimming to the other side of Black Rock (where we were), but there was nothing over there, and the wind was stronger on that side, so it was a little rougher to swim through.

Dad's mask was leaking and fogging and it was crowded, so he wasn't having the most fun, so we headed in earlier than planned. I think we got back to the room around 3:00pm and we had nothing else planned until the farewell dinner at 6:00pm. Dad and I walked around the resort taking pictures of the scenery, since we were staying at a gorgeous place, we wanted to capture that beauty just a little bit. Picture taking didn't actually take that long, so even though I took a long shower and tried to take a long time to get ready, I still had time to get most of my stuff packed and be bored before it was time to leave for dinner.

The farewell dinner- thumbs down. The food was alright, not the greatest, and the entertainment was crap. It was a cover band that's pretty typical of these events. I held out as long as I could. They weren't terrible, but they weren't my cup of tea, and I had no one to talk to, so I wasn't having the greatest time. The lead singer of the band was a creep-stash old man and after a little while (like when he sat on the edge of my chair and told me "daddy's here") I had to leave. Well, that and I wasn't too entertained by watching the old people dance up front. I decided to walk along the beach. Luckily my roommate Alysha was still up so that I could chat with her and not feel so stupid about being alone on the beach. The beach was nice though, the sky still held some sunset colors, and later, over the water I saw lightening and even spied a shooting star.

When I finally decided that Alysha should really be in bed (since Utah is 4 hours ahead of Hawaii) I headed back up and finished packing, read a little, and went to bed.
