Book Ends

I woke up early this morning to go running with Kimi. This time it was super hard to wake up at 6:30am because it was 3:30am Hawaii time, which I had gotten fairly used to. Anyway, Kim finally got to show me the killer hill run/trail run thing. After the run I went back to her house and played with the boys. Roman showed me his new creation out of small legos and Isaac ran around tying strings to his "babies"- he put his raccoon on a leash. After play time it was time to get ready for the beach.

Kim pointed out that I book ended my Hawaii trip with trips to Torrey Pines beach. This time I definitely put sunscreen on. There was no way I was going to burn so that all my hard work in Hawaii would peel off on my drive back to Utah. That would suck hard core. Roman wanted to build sand castles the whole time and Isaac was scared to play in the water like we did last time. Roman stopped the building long enough to jump in the waves with me, but not for too long. Isaac went in the water when his friends did. He wanted to go in the water, but didn't want any one with him. I stayed right with him, but when he started to walk back, I was a step behind and he went down. Yeah, he did not like that. I brought him up and he was screaming for Mama. Yet, later, while I was building with Roman and Kim was way up on the beach, Isaac goes off into the water. I look up at Kim to see if she's going to stop him... Nope, she doesn't see him. So I get up and catch up with him. I ask him what he's doing, "Going in the water" is that smart to do by yourself? "No" then why are you doing it? "Because I'm naughty." He said that last part with a big huge grin. What a punk. I reminded him how he didn't like going under the water and how it was okay to play in the water, but no alone. We then went up shore to tell Mommy what he did. "Mommy, I'm naughty because I went into the water alone." Again, he said it with a big old smile on his face. He's suck trouble!

Dad was only working a half day today and so I had to get back to meet up with him to go car shopping. Kim, the boys, and I grabbed a quick bite to eat and some Golden Spoon (GS as Kim would call it :o) and then I headed home. Even though I was later than I thought I would be, Dad still wasn't back yet. Good thing too, I still had to shower and clean off. We went car shopping and I was determined to get the Miada I test drove if it was still there, but it wasn't, and the Cash for Clunkers thing is temporarily (or it could be permanently) out of commission, so it wouldn't have benefited me to get the car now so I drove off the lot in my same old same old.

After car shopping it was off to Dana's. While I was in Hawaii, she had a specific job to do for me. She was supposed to make my pillow cases. I brought her the fabric and told her that her labor could be her birthday present to me. But no.... she had to be busy with her own life while I was gone and so she didn't get to sewing at all. Lame! (Teasing of course.) I went over to help her do it tonight. We first went swimming in her salt water pool- don't worry, it wasn't at all like swimming in the ocean, there's not THAT much salt water in it. Then she made us dinner while we waited for Josh to get home with the cutting board, ruler, and cutter. Once we got started, it didn't take us too long to knock out the 7 pillow cases, which meant we still had time for an ice cream treat and an episode of Arrested Development (which she then sent home with me so some time before I come home again, I've got to watch 3 seasons of this show).

And this was supposed to be my "recoup day" before headed back to Utah tomorrow. Not quite!
