Rodeo! Yee-haw!!

Alright, thanks Mom for reminding me that I hadn't written about the rodeo yet. Two years ago Grandma P took me to a rodeo and I LOVED it. I couldn't go last year beacuse I was in Taiwan (rough right?) And so even though I was never stoked to spend my summer in Utah, at least I would be here around the time of the rodeo. I was told the Lehi Rodeo was a good one so I looked it up and it ran from Thursday June 25th to Saturday June 27th. Right around the time I would be at home. Okay, I figured I'd go on Saturday because I knew I'd spend the 24th at Disneyland and so couldn't make it there by the 25th, and why leave a day earlier to make it to the one on the 26th? That would mean a long day at Disneyland immediately followed by a long drive back to Utah. The plan was Saturday, until my friend reminded me that he works on Saturday and his days off are Thursday and Friday. Fine. If I had to drive back on Thursday, I could do it, and be back in time for the Friday rodeo.

Well, half an hour after I had left on Thursday I get a message saying that my friend can't go. He promised that he had a legitimate excuse and that he hoped I would be able to find someone else to go with. Urg! If I would have know that information a half hour earlier, I could have stayed home for an extra day. And, how was I supposed to find someone else to go with when it was the very next day?

It ended up working out really well though. The first friend I called up would have gone because she was looking forward to a rodeo too, but she had gone to one the previous week and she's trying to be more social in her new ward and there was a ward luau Friday night. She was a no go. Alysha had work Friday night and no one would switch her. I was running out of friends- as sad as that is, it's kind of true, I have plenty of acquaintances, ones that would have been fine going with me, but that I hated to ask (I'm awkward like that). I called up Nick and he said that he really wanted to go but that he had plans for Friday night, if only it was on Saturday he would go. I really hope he wasn't using that as an excuse to get out it, by still looking like a nice guy, because I told him that it was on Saturday and that he had just committed to going :o) I called up Alysha to see what time she worked on Saturday, and she worked the morning shift, so she got invited too.

It was perfect that we ended up changing the day because Friday night it rained and it sounded like it was slightly miserable and cold. Saturday night, however, the weather was perfect. I brought a light jacket, but didn't even have to put it on. The rodeo was so fun. I didn't get too many pictures, but I got a couple of video clips so that you can actually tell what the cowboys are doing. Oh, that was a slightly disappointing aspect of the rodeo. The cowboys they had were not highly attractive. Most of them were middle aged, balding guys. Sad day :o( They did the usual stuff that they do at rodeos. There was bronco riding, bull riding, calf wrestling, team roping, barrel racing, and other stuff. The rodeo clown they had was such a perv. I have to admit that I laughed at a couple of his jokes, but many of them just flat out shocked me (which is saying alot if you know who I live with back home- Dad, Kim, Joy (sometimes Dana)). The best part was during half-time or whatever it is, they brought in these motorcyclists from Canada who set up ramps and jumped a 70 foot gap and did flips and tricks. Man, that was for sure amazing!

So my friend is forgiven for backing out on me because I was able to find other people to go with, I had a blast, and I didn't get rained on on Friday night like I would have if I had gone with option number one.
